How the video appointment works
- Book a 15-minute online slot below and email the unsigned document to hello@mobilenotaryvancouver.ca. Don't sign it in advance.
- On the call, hold your government photo ID up to the camera, confirm you are in BC, and we administer the oath or affirmation.
- Sign on camera, then send a scan or a clear phone photo of the signed page.
- We complete the jurat with the video wording BC requires, add the seal and signature, and email you the notarized PDF, usually within the hour.
- Need a paper original? We mail it for $15, or you can pick it up in Burnaby.
Is it legal?
Yes. British Columbia permits affidavits and statutory declarations to be sworn or affirmed by video conference. The jurat on your document records that you were not physically present and that the oath was administered by video, which is what courts, IRCC, the BC Registry and most institutions expect to see. Two practical limits: you must be physically in BC during the call, and a handful of receiving parties, mostly outside Canada, still require an in-person appearance. If you are not sure whether yours does, text us the name of the organization before you book and we will tell you.

Common situations we handle every week
- Inviting a parent or relative to visit Canada. An invitation letter or statutory declaration of support for a visitor visa, sworn by video in ten minutes.
- Common-law sponsorship. The IMM 5409 statutory declaration, with both partners on the call.
- A child travelling with one parent. A travel consent letter witnessed for both parents, even when they are in different cities.
- Closing a company. The director's affidavit for a BC voluntary dissolution, sworn from your office.
- Court deadlines. Affidavits commissioned the same evening so counsel can file in the morning.
